Mike's Afordable Grandfathers Day 3 Attachment(s)
Had a wonderful day at Mike's Afordable for the annual car meet and greet. It was a beautiful day and here is a picture of the cars there by mid morning.
Attachment 181663 I was most interested to find some cars with the Copra and Chicle Drab combination, as I always thought it would be my favorite. Now that I have a 31 Town Sedan to add to my 30 Standard Roadster, it is time to pick the colors. There were two examples of this combination that looked really good to me. Attachment 181662 Attachment 181664 Both looked really good and I would pick them for my car. Amazing to me that these pictures did not come out like they really looked. There was a little greenish color in the body of both cars, and in my camera version is looks all brown. I have always been distressed with some of the pictures I have seen that show this way. Now I will ignore pictures and trust what the car will look like. One question, I have never seen a car painted like this Town Sedan. Isn't the entire top supposed to be the darker color, not just hilited the way this one is? I much prefer it filled in like the coupe. |
Re: Mike's Afordable Grandfathers Day I think that both ways are correct-at least for the town sedan. For a coupe I do not know. Just remember that those colors are not correct colors. They were closer to a brown. At some point Dupont changed the formulas-I think in the 50's-to the colors we see today. I looked at an original townsedan with those colors and they are two shades of brown.
Mike p.s. They are great colors but then again I am biased:D. |
Re: Mike's Afordable Grandfathers Day Here is a picture of my 1930 Town Sedan, also painted Copra Chicle and Copra Drab, and I like the color rendition that was achieved. I bought this car restored, so did not paint it myself. I have seen other versions of these colors, and some tended to be grayish color, and others too brown....I did not care for those.

Re: Mike's Afordable Grandfathers Day Looks like a light turn out. Mike said if the traffic was low it could be the last one. In the past there have been so many cars if you were late you couldn't get on the lot an parked around the top. I couldn't make it this year.

Re: Mike's Afordable Grandfathers Day Terry, that is exactly the look I want for my town sedan. Thanks.
Also the pictures I took were at about 10:30 am. I had to get back to my home by 1:00 and could not stay much longer. I don't know how many more cars may have shown up. But it is such a nice time to talk to all the other owners when there is no show, no competition, just a lot of people proud of their cars. |
