1936 coupe window glass channel question

Need help with finding the right kind of channel kit. The piece that i am having trouble finding is the u shaped flexible piece that goes around the inside of the upper door that the glass rest in when glass is all the way up. I have ordered two different sets from bob drake and one from dennis carpenter. Seems they all dont come with what i need. Ive spent almost 500 bucks on this stuff with no satisfaction. If anyone can send some info my way i would greatly appreciate it

The U channel is not used in that vehicle, If you are attempting to locate a flexible U channel that is a later material that was probably installed in the car by a previous owner

Heres the channel I used on the upper portions of my 35 panel delivery doors. It comes both rubber and cloth covered.

I don't know about '36, but I recently replaced the glass in the driver side front door on my '35 Fordor. The channel kit that I used came from Bob Drake and had the flexible U channel for the top of the door that is held in place with very small screws. Everything in this kit fit and worked perfectly. There could be some difference in kits for early vs. late model year production.

Re: 1936 coupe window glass channel question

1935 used a "U" channel on the top/front of the doors, with a deep batwing at the back. There was no felt at the bottom of the window, there were little rectangular bumpers.

1936 used single sided felt all around the window opening.

Go to http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatal...indowParts.pdf to see a sketch.

As with many things Ford the exact change over could be fuzzy. It is very possible that early 1936 could have 1935 style felt, and/or late 1935 could use 1936 style felt. There was also a change in regulators from the "short" 1935 version to the "long" 1936, I do not know if the felt and regulator change happened at the same time or independently.

It is also possible that one or both doors were replaced during the life of the vehicle with the different type.
