41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 Anyone else from FB planning to be there? We will be at the host hotel, Holiday Inn Conference Center on Loucks Rd, tomorrow morning as the cars start rolling in. That's usually a show in itself, since everyone must register there at that hotel.
This show is not all about street rods. Many traditional hot rods as well as stock original cars will be there. I'll try to post a few pictures here tomorrow and Friday. Stay tuned :) Weather forecast is looking good for this weekend! PS...the flea market/swap meet there is usually pretty good. I always seem to find a few goodies. |
Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 I'm DOWN. Cool cars from STUPID to I'd drive that.
-VT/JeffH PS. JM likes to have stock on hand! |

Here's a couple of shots.
Lots of streetrods. Photo #4 is from two years ago, same parking spot as photo #3, wonder if it's the same owner. -VT/JeffH |
Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 Well...not sure whether to say what I'm thinkin' or to just keep-on shakin' my head, and I'm usually pretty open-minded about others' preferences. 'Tis different, for sure. DD

Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 DD, I agree, I try to be tolerant, but sometimes I just don't get it.
Imagine trying to use this as, shocker, a car? Ride 500 miles in that? I don't think so. -VT/JeffH |

Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 Hey John, is that Al's '36 CS? What's nice about the Street Rod Shows is that you get to see all kinds of "things" done to cars/trucks...:D A lot of work and money go into the self expressions on wheels... You don't have to like something but one should recognize and appreciate the imagination it takes to create a unique vehicle. To each his own...;)

Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 Good eye Vic. Yes, that is Hamtown Al's '36 Convertible Sedan.
Did you see that Bugatti? I took that picture in the early afternoon, went back a few hours later and it was gone. Hope to see it tomorrow at the show. |

Hey Vic, Good eye #2. That Parklane was like I prefer them, unmolested.
Hi again Everyone, I'm back from the show now, left around noon if you can believe it. I just had to jump in my car and drive it, which I did for a couple of hours to calm down. The best thing about this show was seeing and hearing the cars in motion. I can't deny that even a '69 Camaro with a 572 in it can sound pretty bitchin'! That's what I like about any show, the exit to the Hershey show field comes to mind. At any show, I'll stand around for a few moments if I think the owner is gonna fire it up. On Thursday afternoon and night we were stationed at a strategic spot at the host hotel, on what becomes a cruising loop. It was like old times, except you didn't see the same car five times! It was a never ending stream of alternating appealing and repulsive vehicles. Their parking lot had probably 400 cars rotate through it that evening. I really enjoyed the parade! The worst thing about this show was seeing all of 'our' Fords without their innards! It got so I stopped looking under the hood and just looked at the steering column! Very clearly the body to have on your hotrod is any '27-41 Ford. Massive numbers of '40's, '34's, 33's, '37's. I'd say I saw 1000 or more street rods and likely 60% of them were Ford bodied or Ford replica bodies. The bummer for me was it seemed like I saw less than fifteen flathead engines. Not a single V12, at least there was one of them in 2012! All this is my fault. At the Jalopy Showdown a couple of weeks ago I was more in my element. I'm not knocking street rodders, I'm just saying that my heart drops 99% of the time when I switch from looking at the outside of the car to looking into the engine compartment. I'm really very tolerant. It's not my car, I don't have to love it. I just hope the owner does. I really love seeing a flat motor under the hood. Sorry I'm prejudiced, I'm taking pills and injections to try to get cured. I'm not sure five years of treatment is enough! <rant off, taking deep breaths> -VT/Jeff |
Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 Jeff, there is no known cure for what ails us... Like I tell my wife, one Flathead is too many and 100 is not nearly enough...:D;)

Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 The T roadster windshield in post # 13 is interesting. Wonder where the split windshield frame came from?

JM, Nice, I didn't stay long enough, or look long enough (shoulda rented a scooter) to see any of that stuff. That last one, what is that? Sexy coming and going.
On the For Sale, I'm guessing that guy wants upwards of 60K, eh? I bet they banged some heads putting people in that short back door. -VT/JeffH PS. JM Same issue here at home, can't do more than three photos at a time! Curious. |
Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 40cpu, Car owner is a fan/member/supporter of EMMR, the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. Could be we see it again in York Springs during our June 26th visit! Looked like a one-off to me!

Re: 41st NSRA Nationals East Plus, York PA, 6/6 to 6/8 I spent a couple hours at the fairgrounds yesterday. Hit the swap meet first, was a bit disappointed. Tons of cars for sure. A few were pretty interesting.
