36 Ford Pickup steel bed? I am looking at a 36 ford and it has and all steel bed. Basically a steel sheet built over plywood base. Looks clean. I am trying to determine if this is considered correct? I always assumed that they all had the oak boards and metals strips. I am assuming this is simply the way it was restored and not original or correct? in any way?

Re: 36 Ford Pickup steel bed? The bed frame has hardwood planks on the underside and a solid steel bed floor on top. The bed steel is embossed with rub strips that look similar to the strips you would normally see on the wood beds.

Re: 36 Ford Pickup steel bed? 35-36 Ford pickup beds have a wooden sub floor covered with a steel sheet that has ribs or rub ridges that are embossed in the sheet. The one you are looking at and pictured is not correct. No plywood sub floor and no smooth bed floor cover.
Mac Hils makes the correct bed. Mac's bed as produced is not exactly correct for show. Call me at 404-316-6748 and I will be glad to talk to you about it. I have one on my pickup and am very pleased with it. Lawson Cox |

Re: 36 Ford Pickup steel bed? All Ford pickups had the steel bed floor with the wood planks undeneith for strength from 1928 to 1950. I like the looks of a nicely stained wood bed, but it is not correct.
