Rear view vision

There was a discussion not long ago about being able to see what is going on behind when backing up or driving, my question is as any one tried a rear view camera setup to get better vision than a couple of mirrors, there is a wide range of these available price wise and I am sure in quality, any comments if you have used them.
Thanks Brian T.

Re: Rear view vision

One of our guys has one on his '31 Fordor. Never did work quite right, I think for a combination of reasons which most likely involved the fact that it was "cheap" to begin with, as well as placement of the camera which was hung off the RH taillight.

I think if a descent camera were properly installed it would work just fine. My Son's business installs these type cameras in motor homes with a great deal of success. No reason why they wouldn't work in a Model A.

Re: Rear view vision

One concern is the radio frequency (RF) noise from a Model A unshielded ignition system. It may run havoc with the picture on some units, not others. Here is a case where actual 'sperience on an A is beneficial. I know the camera that lights up through the rear view mirror of the wife's Escape is the only thing that keeps her from bashing the A's, the workbench, the walls, and me in the garage. The aftermarket types come wired, wireless, and with cameras of widely varying fields of view- from 60 degrees to a very wide 120. Good luck. When you find the perfect one that works well in an A let us know! I want one too, but like you, don't want to buy a dozen to find the gem.
