CAN YOU HELP ME ?? I HAVE A 1930 2 DR SEDAN ,,,WENT TO START IS FIR THE LOCAL PARADE AND STEPPED ON THE BUTTON ON THE FLOOR ,,,,, NOT EVEN A SOUND ,,,I KNOW THE BATTERY IS HOT BUT PUT THE CHATGER ON IT ANYWAY ,,,,,, NOT EVEN AN ,,,UMPFFFFFF..

when this happens to me the first place I look is the fuse on the starter

It could be a bad battery cable connection. It is more than likely that the starter drive is stuck against the flywheel, this is common. Put the transmission in second or high gear, rock the car back and forth untill you hear a click and the starter will be unstuck and ready to crank. When the starter drive sticks, you can't even turn the engine with the hand crank. Rocking the car back and forth in gear will usually unstick the starter.

Purdy is probably right. This is a VERY common occurrence anymore because of almost 85 years of the starter kicking back when people forget to retard the spark while starting the engine. Eventually this bends the starter shaft and it jams against the flywheel. If your lights work, but the starter doesn't turn, the Bendix is probably jammed. A fuse blown fuse wouldn't have any effect on the starter turning the engine over because the connection between the battery and starter is a direct one without a fuse in-line. Once the starter turns the engine over and it won't start, however, THEN the fuse could be to blame - among 100 other possibilities.
I would recommend using 3rd gear to unlock the jammed starter drive because it's easier to rock the car than in 2nd gear. The tires will skid a little, which helps unjam the drive. Also - and this very important - be sure to turn the ignition key OFF while doing this! It's easy to forget to turn the key off when the starter won't turn the engine over, only to have it start up when pushed and away it goes!

By the way, ensure that the starter rod has not unscrewed itself from the switch! This happens often, too.
