Contact Lin Stacey. He probably has the correct jack and handle in stock.

That is not the correct jack as it does not have the hole for the mounting screw in the corner of the base. That is if correctness is important. If not a late model ford ranger truck jack will also work.

I wondered about the missing hole as well. Think I'll look for a Ranger jack to use until I can find /afford the correct one.

Here are two photos of the jack that came with our '51 F-1, I think it is original, including the "thumb screw" hold down. I would think it should be the same for '48 to '52 F-1's.

Does that have the curved plate on top like the eBay unit? I have to wonder what the purpose of that is.

Where does your hand-crank for the jack stow? I've never seen any provision for that.

The Ebay jack is at least a close relative of several similar types used circa 1935-6...it is a "Flip-Top", with the curved upper forging serving to give a higher cradle for jacking at the rear axle tube and the lower part beneath it offering a lower perch to the front axle.

I believe Vic has the correct jack. It's a smaller version of the jack for the F3s.

I did get in touch with Lin Stacey and he has been most helpful. I hope to get a correct "flip top" jack and crank from him. I would to have the entire tool kit as well.

I pulled a jack from a 51 F-2 and it was an original. I then compared it to a 84 Ranger 4x4 I had at the time and it was identical to the original, right down to the hole in the correct spot. Use the Ranger jack, a lot cheaper!

Is that the correct location for the jack to stow regarding Vics pics?

Re: Bottle Jack for '49 F1

Hey, I thought that jack looked awful familiar... just went out and looked at the old jack collection (now that the snow has melted and I can get into the shed). I have six of these jacks in my collection and five have the folding handles to go with them. Two are exactly like the pictures of Vic's jack and the other four are the same in regard to the jack body but have a three inch by 1 and 1/4 inch top bracket with 1/2 inch ends bent up at each end. The handles are various lengths but all have a distinctive little hook on the end to firmly hold the handle into the jack body. Who needed one of these? Perhaps I can talk him into needing two? My wife would be happy for me to shrink my collection. Toby Lampert

Ken, that is the correct location, its the only place in the floor with the provision for the "thumb screw" to secure the jack.

I don't now if there is a "proper" place (or way) to stow the hack handle, I just keep it under the seat, or in the optional "tool Tray" that mounts to the cab just above the gas tank.
