Brake light switch set up.

If any of you fine members with a 30 - 31 have a spare moment , could you snap a pic and post so I can see the set up of the brake light switch ? I have to get busy and get some brake lights and I want to make sure I get all that's needed to complete the set up. Thanks.

I'll look for a picture but all you need is the switch and 2 mounting bolts, lock washers, and nuts.
The button on the rear of the brake rod pushes the switch off.

Re: Brake light switch set up.

The brake light switch connects to the rear of the center crossmember with two bolts. The brake pedal rod has a special end that releases the plunger on the switch when the brake pedal is depressed. Sorry, I don't have a picture stored at this time.

Suggest you do a search on 31 brake light switches . A lot of problems with repro 31 brake light switches . I gave up on my repro 31 switch and used a 29 . Totally different design .

Usually even the old rusty originals still work. the repros are junk and I've never seen one that worked. I think that Berts has NOS and good used 30-31 brake light switches

You guys are the best. I've got it all figured out now. Until I saw the pic's and read the descriptions I could figure it. The brake rod had old gunk build up on it. It back part of the rod which I now see activates the switch just looked like a bent piece that someone had hammered on. Now I see that it has a special sort of hammer head looking end on it. Now it all comes together. Thanks guys for the help. I've got it under control. James.

Re: Brake light switch set up.

Tom Wesenburg has posted before with info about making the repro 30-31 switches work. I've never had much luck with the repros . As far as I know, the one on our roadster is the one that came on it when it was new. I bought NOS 30-31 switches back in the ninties for twenty dollars a piece. They"ve went up but I 'll bet that Berts still has some.
