30 CCPU Wood Kit Install Can anyone advise how many hours should be allowed for re and re of all the wood in a 1930 CCPU and/or what $ amount should be allotted? This for the cab only -- not the bed. The body is excellent -- shouldn't encounter any problems. Thanks for any input .

Re: 30 CCPU Wood Kit Install Can't help you with your question, sorry. I just bought my first 1930 CCPU and it has no wood in it. Have you already bought your kit? At Snyder's they're about 330.00 and I would guesstimate the hours around 4-6. I'm hopng to find some templates or plans and make my own wood. Glen

Re: 30 CCPU Wood Kit Install I bought a wood kit from Brattons 12 years ago . I seem to remember that there was still quite a few holes to drill and notches to extend . Taking out the old screws not allways easy either and you need to save them for patterns . It took me a few evenings to sort it all out .
When I got the Vinyl off the roof the curved panel above the doors were rusted out in the drip moulding area so had to replace them as well . Take your time and do it Right !! You will be looking at it for a long time John Cochran |
Re: 30 CCPU Wood Kit Install Hi Dog, Just did this on my 31, header above windshield, pcs. above doors and top bows. Its NOT just replace the header, needs to be trimed a fair amount that they dont tell you. the pcs above the doors needed to be cut back some. top bows fit in
with no problem. also the section above the seat from side to side you need to remove the wood in door post to gt it in and needs triming. your cab needs to be siting on good frame blocks. tke your time, remove small amounts of wood and keep refiting. Its not fast work and a lot of times wish i had a second person holding the other end while fitting. The wood kit is not cheep,And buy a new top bolt kit. I spent 5 or 6 nights on it so far. Is this your first Model A or Restoration? Haha if I have learned ANYTHING in my model A venture it is to COUNT on surprises and / or problems. I have found a few on my body when I started poking around underneath removing all body bolts to swap my damaged frame hoping it would be a simple matter of moving all my restored running gear over, putting on some new body blocks and shims, and throwing the body on a 31 frame I will acquire from a club member. Now I'm looking at a full on restoration. :o Its ok, I'm kind of excited (except about being bummed I won't be driving it for at least a few years). I'm going to spend some serious time and lean on the experienced guys in my club for advice/help when needed and do this right - the first time. I will be doing all the wood on my coupe so I'm anxious to hear how it works out for you. |
