I've alway heard lacquer or model airplane engine paint. Just what I've heard. No experience. Tillotsons don't need paint, they look purdy all naked :D

The best paint for the inside may be what is best for the outside.
I used Aero-Gloss fuel-proof dope, which others have recommended.

POR 15 is the way to go. I have used it on areas exposed to chem (oil gas) with no issues. however do follow the instructions.

I have done the inside of gearboxes with Glyptol which is a paint normally used to enhance the insulation of motors (and generators.) You will recognize this product immediately by it's color which is a sort of rust-red.

It's just another way to prevent corrosion and release of casting sand from the interior surface of the box. You "seal" it all in.

Alcohol based, it's totally resistant to oils and likely would work on gasoline as well.

I recently took apart a Zenith that was on my Model A for 28 years and found the inside spotless.
I would imagine over time almost any paint put on the inside of a carb will loosen up or dissolve and possibly clog up passages and jets.... If Henry didn't do it I would not either. No need to re-invent the wheel here.

As far as applying Glyptol inside an engine or gearbox, to me it's a waste of time and money. The only one who will ever appreciate the cosmetic look is the next person to rebuild it. If sand castings haven't come loose in 80+ years I doubt they will now. But hey, your money, your car, go for it !

While some think the paint look's nice it is probably not needed, do what you want if you like it do it,but be prepared when it dissolves.

I've had a couple pretty good unrestored carbs that showed signs of black paint inside the bowl and throat. I used Aero Gloss to paint mine inside and out, and after 10 years the paint inside the bowl is mostly gone. At about 5 years I could see some has slowly disappeared, but it definately doesn't flake off and cause problems.
If I hadn't use the 10% crap gas for a few years the paint might still be good inside.

Do not paint the inside of the carb! Nothing will hold up to perpetual exposure to gasoline. I did a test with Por15, and it will not hold up.
