I have a stack of pressure plates

I used one for my Model A but the clutch is slipping. How can I pick a good one?

pads??? theres no pads on a pressure plate. My clutch disc is new.
I guess I wasnt clear. My question is, How do I determine if a pressure plate is good before I put it in a car?

you need to perform a tension check on the springs to make sure they are within spec and not weak. you also need to make sure the clutch surface area runout is true and smooth. if it was me and the work involved to replace it i would spend the 100. and buy a new one.

Before you pull the clutch..........I assume you DO have 1 to 1 1/2 inches of freeplay at the clutch pedal?

You can look through the top tin plate hole and make sure the throw out bearing clears the 6 fingers when the clutch pedal is released. Also make sure the 6 fingers are adjusted equal distance from the rear surface of the pressure plate.
