body anti-sqeek I pulled the sides of my 28 sedan and found there was some fabric between the outer skin and the substructure posts. How thick is the material when new? Will it have an effect on the roof on reassembly?

Re: body anti-sqeek Ford used somekind of cloth material to help eliminate squeaks. They also used a tarlike material. When I assembled my 28 special coupe's top, I used electrical friction tape glued to the various parts - wood to metal places. Friction tape wont stick very well to anything but itself. I used contact cement on both surfaces before sticking them together. Kind of messy, but it worked well.

Re: body anti-sqeek I found the material under the gas tank was still thick and soft, it has been replaced at least once already. The material between the quarter panels and the post was original. I have a couple books for restoration but they don't get that far into tear down of the body.

Re: body anti-sqeek When I removed the old mostly rotten wood from my 30 coupe body, what I found was crummy loose felt.inbetween the wood part's . When replaciing the wood new felt was put in between the wood and the metal. I think that this step helps in ruducing noise within the cab. The felt was mostly found around the rear quarter wood and the rear window, the original wood had A very lousy coat of black paint on it.
