fordoor top question I have a 1930 or 31 fordooor Murray I've been working on for several years. It was a mess. I made all of the topwood using the few rotten remains as patterns. Some pieces were totally missing. The way it's working out the spaces over the front doors seem to be narrow near the windshield and an inch wider toward the back doors. Is that normal? I also made the door posts so I could have them too long but the pattern on them was pretty good. Should the space over the door vary from front to back? I looked at a two door on ebay that's for sale and it seems to vary a lot. It's ebay item 151224684002. But it's a two door. I have looked around on this forum but I can't seem to see any pictures that reveals what I'm looking for. Is there anybody near central Kentucky that has a fordoor I could look at? Thanks!

Re: fordoor top question Welcome to the barn dirtfarmer. I made bows for my fordor. Mine is a Briggs. The bows are more narrow in the front and get wider as you move towards the back.

Re: fordoor top question Welcome to the FB. Go into Brent Terry's site and look in the "Restorations" part. There are quite a few pics of the new wood as assembled. Both Briggs and Murray fordors. You'll see his name in quite a few threads. He is located in Eastern Tennessee, I believe.

Re: fordoor top question Unfortunately I don't have great pics. This was almost 30 years ago.

Re: fordoor top question My "30 Briggs fordor had consistent spacing, although it did require a filler piece to which the upper metal trim covered. The spacing piece was the same thickness front to back. Good luck! It is an ambitious endeavor but rewarding.
