Stewart Warner Horn Shaft Repair 2 Attachment(s)
I was sorting through my selection of horns. I decided to tackle fixing the SW armature I broke the screw off of trying to turn it the wrong way many years ago.
I found the outer diameter of the armature chucked up accurately. Well .004" should be good enough for this fix. I faced, drilled and tapped it 6-32. So now I had hole to screw my fix into. I did some left hand tread practice and did ok. So I made a shaft normal 6-32 at one side and 8-32 left thread on the other. It is turning out better then I expected. Still need to drip for a cross pin. The I will thread lock the 6-32 into the hole after trimming 8-32 to the correct length. I have added a picture of the finished piece. Would you believe that was my first try at threading on a lathe? Way easier then I thought it would be to do. Now I am on to electrolytic rust removal on the other parts. |
Re: Stewart Warner Horn Shaft Repair Wish I would have known. I would have sent you real nice one I broke the same way 25 years ago! :D
