Need a pic of Steering wheel mount

Anyone have a picture of what is under this? Looks like I might have to Dremel this mess off. Just need to see what is under it before I start cutting.

I have never seen one come apart like that, all that is under there is the shaft. if you have a gear puller it should come right off.

Just be careful of the threads on the shaft, they are realtively soft. Protect them with a nut so that they don't distort on you if you are going to use a gear puller.

It looks like a repair done with Double/Bubble Epoxy. Is there a shoulder that I have to watch for when I cut this off? Or is it a straight shaft?

Steering wheel was loose and I decided to tighten the nut up. When I didn't see a washer under the nut and the nut show evidence of being hit with a cold chisel. I decided to investigate further and found this mess.

It's a tapered shaft with a keyway.

Thanks CarlG!

If it were mine, I would try the dremmel thing right on top of the key (it's about 11 o'clock in your picture) That might relieve enough pressure so that it would come off easier. That way if you got too deep with the dremmel, it only scratches the key, not the shaft. Keys are cheap. Not so much with the shaft.

You could also try a small hook and slide hammer. It looks like it should pop off. Maybe a screwdriver and each side and rock it back and forth would pry it off.

I used the dremmel and cut it down to the second open keyway, then used a screwdriver to open it up a bit. Then it fell right off.
