Model a head

What is a new MODEL A HEAD worth.
I seen one today along with thousands of other old car parts in a warehouse.

How about a picture? Are we talking a new head from the Model A time period or a later Ford production? or an aftermarket?

How bad do you need one?

If you just want an extra for a spare just in case, not much may be 25-35.00.
Do you NEED one for your Daughters wedding next weekend, 250.00.

Hi John,

Similar to that remarked by Mr. Stephens above, among the thousands of old parts you saw, just in case you run across a Model A head with an embossed "B" on it, it is a Model A Police head which is more valuable; or just in case you see another type of high compression head.

If not familiar with same, maybe hit "Search" to see if you can find a photo showing the difference between a standard Model A head & a higher compression head.

Hope this helps.

IMO it is a $75.00 to maybe a $100 item. The value of it is that is about the going cost to restore an original head (clean, media-blast, machine surfaces).

If its a police head or other higher compression head with a heart shaped combustion chamber it would be worth more. The original style 4.22 heads are fairly plentiful and in my opinion not worth over fifty dollars, if it has no cracks. Sears, Montgomery Ward and others sold new original style heads for less than twenty dollars in the fifties and early sixties.
