model a parts ebay I've posted several parts on ebay and sold some, but I can never find them on the model a parts site. How have my buyers found them, and how can I post them in the right category in the future? I have lots more stuff to sell.

Re: model a parts ebay I think you list your parts in the vintage car and truck parts and put Model A Ford in your title and it is included in the 8,258 results you get when you search for model a ford parts.

Re: model a parts ebay You say you "posted items", when you post they ask you for Tag Words. Are you putting "Model A", "Ford", "19XX", "Ford A".etc.
If your listing it as a wrench, a person will only see it if they type in wrench, for the best coverage put in as many tags that help discribe your part. |
Re: model a parts ebay What is really starting to wrinkle my BVD's, is the guy that is posting all these worthless metal signs in the model a and 1926-27 model t parts.:mad: He puts in " that it fits 1926 ford". The other guy is the car cover dude. They both just flood the site with this stuff. I have reported them 38 times in the last 3 days. Will it help? Doubt it. :eek: There I feel better. :rolleyes:

Try it! Just copy/paste the line (without the "quote" marks) into the ebay motors subset of ebay. This just returned 4,783 relatively clean results. Entering just "Model A Ford" returns 8,590 which include all the garbage. You are limited to how many characters in a search string, the line I have shown utilizes all available characters. If you wished to add "rat, ratrod" to the above string something else would have to go. |
Re: model a parts ebay I never see the parts I sell on Ebay. I think it is the way the Ebay search engine works. It knows who you are, and sorts out your own stuff so it is not displayed. It is exactly the same on an auction site here. I never see my own stuff.

Re: model a parts ebay The biggest gripe I have with eBay now is they did away with the "wild card" search by eliminating the "*" from the search. In this modern day time where folks can't spell, that was a great way to find many items that were incorrectly listed/spelled.

My parts come up all the time on my own computer. It is all in the type of tags you use to list it. I also agree I wish we could get rid of the slip covers for a toyota, car covers for a Vette, repop signs, as well as skull shifting knobs. But I just check daily for 'New Listings' and I can scan very quickly. I also wish people would not post in Model A or Model T just to get views. So many things are posted as "Fits Model A" and the part has big letters that say 'Packard' on it. There is also some chart that show's 'Compatable with:' and lists about 50 cars. Now I have never seen a Modle A head on a 65 Plymouth, but it is listed. When ever I have issued a complaint, eBay has been quick and cleared it up. They are coustomer driven, and they want the coustomer happy. My neighbor payed big bucks and bought a 50's bull nosed Pick Up off eBay. It is listed as "Strong runner" "needs some cosmedic work" "90% restoration is done, selling because I have too many projects, wife says it has to go." He bought it and got quite a suprize. It had the wrong engine, half was 12 volt, the whole dash and all the lights are 6 volt (not wired up), spray can paint job right over the rust, no working lights, engine would start after 30 minutes of trying, one make cab a different make body, tranny did not line up with engine but was bolted so that it could make it up the street and back, and the best.... every wire in the truck is white. Another friend made a bad buy and the 'Buyer Protection Plan' got him a full refund and eBay went after the seller. The difference with the truck, the seller contacted him off line with "Buy it off me now, we save the eBay commission, just use PayPal to send me the downpayment, send me a money order for the rest. When he saw what he got, the buyer contacted eBay = "Nothing we can do, you bought it off line", police "You signed the bill of sale, nobody forced you" Consumer Protection "Did you look at it, or have someone look at it before you bought it? You own it." 3 years not, and still not running. I feel bad for the guy. He is not in great health, not a mechanic, department store tools. |
