Ford Right, Ford Left "Wax on, wax off", Mr. Miyagi told the Karate Kid without telling him why.
http://rb.roosterbank.com/wp-content...KidCarWash.png So, he did for a long time without knowing why until one day he rebelled and said he wasn't going to "wax on, wax off" any more when instantly Mr. Miyagi challenged his strength in those motions used in Karate identical to the circular motions of putting wax on the car and wiping the wax off. To his surprise, the Karate Kid discovered the great strength he had developed without even knowing it. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_a7H0TaNC_j...Karate_Kid.jpg The same thing happened to me. I have a sedentary job and live a fairly sedentary life and do not feel physically strong in most respects. So, at our family reunion last weekend, when my 5 young strapping adult sons and 5 equally strapping sons-in-law were challenging each other to arm wrestles, I just sat by enjoying the entertainment. But, then I had the idea, "I have been driving Old Henry for 6 years now using mostly one arm, my right one, with the suicide knob, which is no easy task. Maybe I have some power in my right arm more than I think even though the rest of me is quite weak." So, I gave it a whirl. http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...psf5285c3d.jpg And, http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2b31fa91.jpg Much to my surprise, http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1bc755bf.jpg I was able to beat the two of my sons that I challenged. http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...psb44530a4.jpg So, keep spinning those wheels with those knobs. You too may reap such unexpected rewards. Oh, here's the fam at the reunion. Ten kids sitting, oldest on the left to youngest on the right with 9 spouses standing and 28 grandkids sprinkled around with two more one the way. (If I'm adding up right that's a total of 49 going on 51 in my family.) http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...psf283565a.jpg One more little note of interest: After cleaning and waxing all of Mr. Miyagi's cars he let Daniel-san pick his favorite. Anyone remember what he picked? |

Re: Ford Right, Ford Left Great looking family! Merry Christmas!

Re: Ford Right, Ford Left You wouldn't have won that arm wrestling if you didn't drive that Old Ford so much with it's manual steering. If you drove a power steered slushbox the result might have been different.
Merry Christmas! Mart. |

Re: Ford Right, Ford Left Great family Old Henry and Merry Christmas!! Glad to see you're holding your position as the undisputed patriarch. My boys tried that several years ago. They were much bigger than me but didn't understand how "refined" old man muscle is. Hopefully they have enough respect for me now to not try it again.
