LEFT and RIGHT Stamped Gas Tank on the HAMB Just scrolling through the parts for sale on the HAMB and saw a "Double Stamped" gas tank. I've never seen one that was stamped for a right or left steering coulmn support bracket. Are they rare? Bob

Re: LEFT and RIGHT Stanked Gas Tank on the HAMB The 1930 '31 tanks are indented on both sides to take either LHD or RHD welded on steering bracket. Is this what you mean? Not sure about late tanks with cowl support bracket.
The 1928-early 1930 tanks do not have this bracket indent. Tanks would not have both [welded on] brackets . All tanks RH & LHD were made at Rouge Plant due to specialised welding required. |

Re: LEFT and RIGHT Stamped Gas Tank on the HAMB 3 Attachment(s)
We have restored several tanks like that too. Since we were just repairing the tanks, I have no idea what month and year of cars/trucks they were out of.
I do know several years ago when I looked at gas tank prints, there were several that had the same part number but were written obsoleted on the print with just different engineering release dates. This first picture below shows that it was designed that way so it is not an anomaly. The 2nd print shows it written Obsoleted and yet the 3rd pic shows they were showing two different part numbers for use in US and Export tanks. . . |
Re: LEFT and RIGHT Stamped Gas Tank on the HAMB Isn't the other bracket for the choke rod?
