opinions please

I have a chassis for sale in the sale section and also on craigslist. I got this email today. What do you guys think?

"Thank so much for getting back to me.. I will pay your asking price, Plus $20 to hold it for me..I'm currently at work because i work at the sea as an oceanographer.. Due to this i will not be able to come do the pick up myself and pay via cash... So i will be paying you via Check so after the Check has been clear, i will ask shipper to come for the pick up at your location. Do reply back with your full name and address in which the payment will be mail to you"

Re: opinions please

But what would be the point of his scam? To send me a bad check or is it something he could do with having my address? Just curious as I laughed when I read it.

Vanspeed, IF you don't have much $$$'s tied up in that chassis, to save frazzled nerves, etc, just GIVE it to someone who will appreciate your kindness. You'll find out that your "REWARDS" will come back from the most unusual & unexpected sources! Bill W.

You will never find out who he is so you can not do anything. Even if you found him he will be in a foreign country so you cannot do anything. You will louse several thousand dollars.

yup yup yup. ANYTIME it has to deal with being off shore for ANY reason, ANY ammount of money to hold an item, involving a shipper of any kind, askign about YOU and your adress and not any questions about the item for sale.

i still find it hard these people keep getting money!

BUT if you are still unsure its ALWAYS best to get a 2nd opinion by asking us on here, family friend that is internet savvy, neighbor, grandkids etc.

Turn the scam on him. Tell him to send the check to a temporary mail box. Deposit the check whatever the amont is..over the asking price then don't send
the excess $$ back. Turn over his info immediately to law inforcement. They will notify interpol. Hopefully they can catch him. Personally, I would ask him to come to my home to recieve his
excess cash, then knock him in the head with a tire iron. lol.

Law enforcement can't or won't do anything about it.

Dunno about your banks over there, but a dud check costs you about $35 here.

No skin off the scammers nose if he don't get the excess shipping out your own money, but it has cost you because you have deposited a dud in your account.

Best to just delete.

EVERYBODY, DON'T, DON'T, DON'T, play GAMES with these people!!! I got a $22,000.00 COUNTERFEIT check:eek: for the full price of my car!! It looked SO REAL, that the bank took it!! I was lucky, it only cost me $12.00 for a "bounced" check! Read about it on MAFCA SCAMS PAGE!!

Well, I'm on both sides here. Yes, looks like a scam. But having "been to Sea", I've met hundreds of men who made their living on the world's oceans as civilians. They love their jobs but long for home, hearth and hobbies as they ride ocean blue month after month.
