John Australia. Help with fuel tank

Hi Guys I need some help herewith my 1930 Coupe. I have water leaking in at the welting between the fuel tank and the cowl panel on both sides . Also I find there are no "C" clamps 2 each side as they say in the books it should have . Is this uncommon? I would like to know if I can lift the fuel tank some how only a fraction of an inch to be able to squirt some silicon or similar to prevent the water leak. I would at that stage try to get a better snug fit with the welting which it does not at present. It was poorly fitted by the previous owner sadly. Any suggestions please ? I do not want to go the whole way to removing this fuel tank. thanks guys. John from Australia.

find some c clamps to replace the missing ones, you may have to loosen all the clamps and then retighten them to get the tank to seal right

John , Have some 30 clamps in NZ & yes you may be able to loosen it abit & shoot some sealer in , better still you don,t have to take tank right out to fit new welt but if water has been getting in no doubt there will be rust there so needs treating,
