Hello i am a Mishawaka High School student and i am reverse engineering the Model A 2-tool steering column in my engineering class. I am having trouble taking the steering shaft out of the worm housing (base). Can someone please help me?

Re: Help with the steering column please

You need to know that the worm is pressed onto the shaft and that this complete assembly is removed from the top of the housing after removal of the sector shaft assembly and the upper bearing race adjuster bolt and lock nut. The upper race may be stuck in the housing, so take care in removing it and the shaft and work will come out with it.

The diagram at this link may help http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/up...GBOX-10111.pdf
You need to take bolt #12 out then part #20 and the rest will come out.

Referring to the drawing, gear 19 is pressed on shaft 25. The gear/shaft assembly needs to slide out out of the housing 20 as a whole.
