Single vs. dual carb. I just bought a rebuilt '53 Merc engine. It has been bored .040 and has a stock cam. It has a Edmunds dual intake w/ 94's. It also has the stock dist. I have read about the low vacuum w/ the dual carb set up. Would I get the most bang for my buck installing an aluminum single carb. intake, or getting a converted Chev. dist and keeping my dual set up?

Re: Single vs. dual carb. The most bang for the $ is the dist. conversion, you will like it..

Re: Single vs. dual carb. To keep the cost as low as possable, you'll get more bang for the buck with a 2GC carb and one of Bubba's distributors with vacuum adv. The best improvement you can do with this system is have the stock Merc Intake bored out to match the 2GC. However just blending the e intake to match will work for a street engine.
