1934 dashboard color paint code help please I've looked on the Auto Truck Fleet Paint chip reference @ Paint Ref. Com site and they show a ACME Paint Co. for Ford, 1934/1935 MAROON - Instrument Board color ...M-984-L .......I've talked with them & also PPG paint library........neither had any listing info on that code.....in the restoration manual, page 6-18......deluxe for both '33 & '34 were MAHOGANY COLOR (w/wood grain)......STANDARD cars & SEDAN DELIVERY were DARK MAROON...I am not going to wood grain, its Tudor, would like to have the correct color for both the dashboard & window moldings.......any & all information, help, & comments greatly appreciated.....Thanks......

Re: 1934 dashboard color paint code help please Check out Bob Drake's site. Say's he's got spray cans of what you need.
Haven't tried it, so don't know anything about. |
Re: 1934 dashboard color paint code help please As a side note the dash and trim in my 33 std 4d is gray - not maroon . A friends 34 std 2d does indeed have maroon dash and trim though . Also in my wanderings the woodgrain is quite different between 33 & 34 . No I do not have documentation of this but there is definitely a noticeable pattern there . Clueless on the paint codes BUT if you can find a good pattern { back sides of mouldings is a good place to look ] just take it to a GOOD paint store and have them match it .

Re: 1934 dashboard color paint code help please David,
I recently ran across the engineering releases for the '33 phaeton and roadster dashes and while the early ones were indeed painted "interior gray" (carried over from the '32 standard models), the later standard versions of these body types were given a wood grain finish. (The standard '33 closed cars' dashes continued to be finished in "interior gray" paint for the rest of the model year.) I'll have to look up the releases for the '34s and see if the early cars with '33 dashes and the special overlapping insert for the instruments to mimic the ongoing '34 dashes' appearance were painted maroon or "interior gray". |

I have a standard tudor 34, the backside of the glovebox door still had good original paint, I buffed it and took it to a friends body shop, He has some kind of a tool that shoots a light on the paint and comes up with a match, It came out great, very nice color. Ken

Here is an example of an original wood grain 1934 ashtray. It looks like the original base coat is covered about 50% by the black inking.

I’m also looking for the dark maroon interior paint code, the brown interior paint code, and the grill bar paint code. I appreciate any help, thank you. |
Re: 1934 dashboard color paint code help please Check with autocolorlibrary.com as their color matches tend to be faithful to the original colors.

Re: 1934 dashboard color paint code help please Thank you, I may have found the interior brown, but not the interior dark maroon or the grill bar color.
