Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today It's a great show and Danni D is easy to look at. The guys seem to be regular working guys and have great attitudes. However I have a feeling that a lot of people count their fingers if those two shake their hand. Sometimes it's like they're getting things a lot cheaper then I ever could. But some of that could be staged as well in order to keep our interest in the show. I really liked the photo of the Fairlane.

Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today You're a good guy for running up north instead of farther south.
Have a great trip. |
Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today youtube shows an episode that was never aired where they bought and drug a 39 deluxe woodie out of an old barn!
the 3rd seat was out and sitting in the barn and they were smart enough to go back in and grab that. |
Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today Tell how to get there from I-80 going west. My wife and I are going right through there in a few weeks! I like to ride by and take a pic. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Al

Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today A friend of ours from our "Downshifters Car Club" Huntley , Illinois
stopped there last week while they were filming. One of the T.V. guys "Mike" was posing for pics with them, and offered water to them, it was real hot that day. She said that they were all very nice and down to earth. Nice to hear. Bob-Hampshire, Illinois |
Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today like all those shows much of it is fake.i know somone who had the pickers come to his place, they bring stuff with them to make it more interesting.

Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today I suspect I'm old fashioned , maybe I'm just not a good business man but the spectacle of a couple of sharp boys trying to screw some one out of something for the lowest price and then boasting afterwards about how much money they made on the deal is slightly distasteful to me -Karl

Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today I heard, that like most of these "reality" TV shows, all they have for sale in their LeClair, IA headquarters are "T"-shirts, mugs, and other souvenirs.
I remember when years ago, the "Orange County Choppers" had a booth at the Minnesota State Fair. I went there, and all they were offering were "T"-shirts, mugs, and other souvenirs. Same ole, same ole. |
Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today My son and I went to OCC’s place in New York. It was in the middle of “bike season” and the only people there were the two of us, two guys in a Saab and the cashier girl. Along with T-Shirts, mugs and hats ,they also had jeans......it was a sad site.......Mark

Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today Mike and Robbie are genuine nice people. Both own several Early Fords. I have two of Mike's at my place right now.
You have to remember the show is for entertainment, however it is real to many extents, and many of the items purchased on the show are in Mike and Robbies personal collections. I am sure there is plenty of exagerations here and there to make it more entertaining I mean hey, If i could get paid a nice amount to ride around the country and buy up Early Ford stuff that'd be cool LOL |
Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today As I recall LeClaire, Iowa is the home town of Buffalo Bill Cody. There is a small museum there dedicated to him. It's a nice little town along the Mississippi river and has lots of old brick buildings. It's also right near Moline, Illinois the home of the old Buddy L toys. We stopped there some years back and visited the pickers place which was just an old garage at the time.

Re: Le Claire, IA & American Pickers visited today Hey guys, I visited the Nashville store years ago, in downtown Nashville. I guess it's still there, but like most have said. They had some cool stuff displayed but the only things for sale were cups and tee shirts. I was a little disappointed, there were many impressive antique items, tho.
