Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue I just seat belts in my '31 roadster...do you think it would be about the same?

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue Hi: I really have no idea the differences, if any, between a 29 and a 31. But, I'd be interested to know exactly where you fastened the fixed ends of the belts. Pictures would be helpful as well. Thanks.

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue Call me as it would be easier to describe what I did...409-679-3868...

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue I looked at the seat (curtain) pans for the '29's and the '31's and they're the same so you'll have to cut some of the seat pan away to reach the body to frame mounting bolts for the outer seat belt anchors. The center anchors present a problem as there is no cross frame to anchor the seat blets to and that's what I need to talk to you about. I have photos....

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue I just finished seatbelts in my 28 roadster for driver/passenger and rumble seat.

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue I used a 3/8 flat stock steel and ran it from body bolt to bolt and then mounted my belts to it I didn't have to cut the pan at all. And unfortunately I was able to test it and it held up with out any issue

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue I put belts in my 30 roadster and used a 1/4" piece of steel under the rumble seat foot riser from the chassis side. It was about 6" wide and 3ft. long. Belt mounts come right behind the curtain pan.

similar for me. but i used an L bracket steel with all the holes in it. bolted it to the body bolts, then used a grade 8 L bracket on each far side for the belt, and bolted directly to the L bracket in the middle for the other side of the belt. didn't cut the pan. |
Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue Thanks again to all for your suggestions and descriptions.

Re: 29 Roadster seat belt issue I had done my rumble-seat in a hurry one night, but not my front seat as of yet. The rumble area has the rear frame bolts about centered on the seat - I used these even if a little too far forward on the seat as they are safer than nothing.
I had a friend with 4 grand-kids aged 9 to 13 years old coming over that night for a ride. Nothing like hearing the squeals of laughter from two 13 year old girls or 9 -12 year old boys coming from the back seat, and I know the four of them will become old car people when they are older. One of the girls has already made claim to their grandparents 13 T Runabout, and the other is pushing them to find an A Roadster - not sure about the boys - they might be more into something with speed... I'd be interested in how you make out with the front seat. |
