1958 Continental - OK to post on this forum? 3 Attachment(s)
I have a very nice 1958 Lincoln Continental and am wondering if I can post on this forum? I also have some flathead V8's (36, 37, 40, 47, 51, 53) that I often post on the early V8 forum. I have a question or two on the '58 Continental, but want to see if OK to post first.

Re: 1958 Continental - OK to post on this forum? Well, this is the late V8 - 1954+ area, so don't know why not, cuz I would. :)

In spite of having the carburetor rebuilt, it does like to stop at gas stations fairly frequently, but is worth it! Fritz |
Re: 1958 Continental - OK to post on this forum? Very Nice, Fritz. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I think you will find we are not as persnickety as some on the other forums.

Re: 1958 Continental - OK to post on this forum? Beautiful car ....not many around and certainly not in that condition . Yeah a heavy car will frequent gas stations but , like you said , it's worth it . Very classy ride .

See my other post on this forum: AMMETER FLUTTERS, but battery is OK. That same post also mentioned a problem with my fuel gauge. Here was that second question: "Thanks everyone. I have forwarded this info to my mechanic who will be taking a look early next week. In the meantime, I just noticed that the fuel gauge is also not working properly. A full tank reads 3/4 full and a half tank reads almost empty. I am wondering it the two gauge problems could be related? Once we figure this out, I will post the results." Fritz |
Re: 1958 Continental - OK to post on this forum? My grandpa had a 1960 Lincoln new and drove it for years. It got in the 14's no matter how it was driven. It went from 14.1 to 14.9 and all the times I checked it, it was never out of the 14's.

I was watching my gas gauge go down fairly quickly last week and started to hit the panic button. However the gauge was reading wrong, as it said a quarter tank. I stopped and decided to put in 10 gallons and it was full at the 5.5 gallon mark, so evidently my gauge is not reading correctly. Considering the weight and size of the car, 14 mpg isn't too bad. I once had a Chrysler Mini Van back in the mid 1980s and it was lucky to get 16 mpg. The car manufacturers have come a long way in regard to improved mileage. Fritz |

Welcome Fritz. Nice Car! It reminds me of the '58 Lincoln I had for a short period (it might have been a '59).

Car shown is either a 1959 or 1960, which are about the same. Fritz |
