Fitting body to top wood

This has been bothering me for some time. I fitted new top wood to my 30 Town Sedan but the sheet metal roof panels don't fit the contour of the new wood. Possible solution, Wrap my cable pull around it and pull it together? Then nail it to the wood. Or what? Is this correct? Are they all this way? or what? Any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Terry

The original wood was cut to a tolerance of .010". New wood who knows?

As for your car, change the contour of the wood. Stressing the metal may fatigue the metal and the stress on the nails may pull them out of wood over time or even damage the metal.
