windshield fram The two screws on the face of 1930 pickup windshield frame, what are they for and how do you get the seal in with them in place? Thanks ahead of time.. Dwight

Re: windshield fram If you are talking about the ones in the upper corners... they actually pass through the bracket that holds the corners together. They are not structurally critical, because there are other screws that do most of the work. I find them missing on a lot of cars, but they look funny without them.
On my '30 Coupe, I found that once the seal was in place it was damned-near impossible to get a wrench in there to hold the nut on the back of those. I just took a thin piece of steel, shaped it like a nut with an arm sticking out of it, and drilled and tapped a hole. I then cut down a screw so that was just long enough to pass through it and then pinch the seal. As I tightened it up, I didn't need a wrench, because the arm hit inside the seal channel, and that little bit of pinch helps keep the ends of the seal in place. |
Re: windshield fram How do I remove the windshield on my 1931 pickup? Thanks
