Date Stamp Info Wanted

There's a date stamped on the lower right front corner of my `28 roadster's gas tank. Now I know that the date on which the gas tank was manufactured probably doesn't necessarily coincide with the date of the car's production ... but it's something that was NOT present on any of my later Model A's (`29 and `30).

Does anyone have any information about "date stamping" on the Model A? When did the practice start and end? Just curious since my roadster is about to experience it's 85th "birthday"...

Do a search as there have been numerous postings and survey gathering regarding the date/stamp on the tanks. I believe Steve Plucker led the "charge" on this.

In case you haven't located it, check above. I needed some info myself regarding the font change in '31. I just received a rebuilt engine for my '31 from Antique Engine Rebuilding and was surprised to receive an early '31 stamped engine. I thought the shape of the "6" and "1" was odd, until I found the info in the attached link that verified I have the correct style numbers.

Thanks for steering me to Steve Pluck's website. Insofar as answers to my questions are even available ... that's the place to go! I truly appreciate the help.
