Does anybody know of someone that can fix a dent on the side of my front fender?

I had a car back into the side of my fender and put a dent in it. the fender is still on my car
(1930 Tudor) and I would like to have it fixed the right way, not just filled in with Bondo.
So I'm looking for someone that can do "old fashioned" body work.
I live in central Wisconsin and would like to stay somewhere within the state.

Look for a body shop that's been around a L O N G time. A restoration shop, or possibly a big truck body shop. FWIW

Try Williams Auto Body in Green Bay. It's right near the stadium. Jim, one of their technicians does the restoration work. He was auto body technician of the year a few years ago. Really knows his stuff and will do it right. I worked there for a while and he was a wealth if knowledge.

I would NOT send it to a body shop. It needs to go to a restoration shop that has the capability AND understanding of what they are working on. It would be interesting to see how the adjuster wrote the estimate. Did they write it to remove the fender? If so, do they know what is involved?

You might try Gunner's Great Garage in Manawa, WI. If John Gunnell can't fix it, he probably knows someone who can.

Brent is correct!!! Body shops usually don't want to work on the old cars. In many cases if they do take in a job like that the end result probably wouldn't be what you would expect. Collision shops are use to modern vehicles. Straightening metal, the old way is nearly a lost art. Body shops are use to straightening frames, aligning body structure and mostly replacing badly bent body parts such as fenders, hoods ,quarter panels and so forth. Modern cars and the materials that they are made of (thinner metal) are totally different than the model A. Replacing thin crumpled body parts on a modern car is far better for the customer than a bondoed up part. In the old days body shops had the know how to straighten the old more rounded fenders, most of those guys are now pushing up daiseys. Find a restoration shop or an old bodyman that doesn't use putty in a tube.

What part of wisconsin are you in, first off. I agree with the restoration shop but those are few and far between.
