Worlds Fastest Model A Coupe.

I noticed on another site an article about the World Fastest Model A . It has a Cozworth engine. I happen to have the world fastest stock bodied, Vintage Powered "A" coupe," Lickety-Split", that currently holds the Vintage Gas Coupe World Record at the Bonneville Salt Flats @ 109.572 mph. Has a 32 block with a cook style head. I would send along a picture but I can`t figure out how.

Was the steering a little frightening? Or, did you make some modifications? Would like to know more about your engine and drive train.

Definitely would like to know more. That "Worlds Fastest Model A" is mostly just cosmetically a Model A. If I remember correctly from watching the video is has a tube chassis and so on and so forth.

Hi, it's easy to upload photos, when you "reply" or start a thread, at the bottom of your screen, choose to "Go Advanced" instead of a quick reply.

Scroll down and select "Manage Attachements"

There will be a pop up box to select the photo from your computer.

Let's see the photos! ;)

pemakita, Welcome to The Ford Barn. I'd like to know more about your car and the Record. Robert Roof got an A up to 101 in 1931 with one of his overhead valve heads. Bob

By chance, is this it?? ;)

Also, didn't former figure-skater Tonya Harding also make a few banzai runs in your Coupe on the salt??

I have seen your coupe at Bonneville for several years. I talked to the driver in 2009. Very interesting young lady.:):)

Welcome Pimakita! Wow a coupe (unchopped) plus fenders @ 109+!!! That's a ton of drag...well done sir! Would love to see that Cook OHV. Any info on the cam, intake, carb, and ignition?

A Model A with a Cosworth engine and all the associated paraphenalia is pushing the limits of being a Model A.

Pete also holds the record for vintage 4cly flat head in the same vehicle , just under the ton. Course it does run one of our quickchange rear ends which may or may not help, Certainly a great achievement by a great guy, Who has offered me a drive this year using my Hillbilly B flathead engine as a training run ? Who is going too speed week this year ??

Re: Worlds Fastest Model A Coupe.

Even the 1932 engine is not the same as a record with an A engine......

Here is the link to the Finish company, Mäkelä Auto-Tuning Oy(Ltd), who made the fastest Tudor:

....includes photos and drawings of what modifications they did while attempting to keep the car as original as possible.

Re: Worlds Fastest Model A Coupe.

Milo, when you put an overhead valve head on an A block or B block, there is no difference in power output. The B block may have a slight advantage as a flathead as the ports are slightly different. Not sure who pemakita is, I believe that Pete Richardson still owns the coupe, unless his daughter and her hubby officially now own it? Yes, Tonya Harding did drive it a few years, also Pete's daughter and his son-in-law.

I remember that coupe and Tonya pitting next to us in Bonneville for 2 or 3 years.

It was staged right in front of us last year and had a chance to look it over. Very nice car, well put together. Sounded cool too.
