'40s COE size? Dumb question I couldn't find the answer to using the search function: What is the height and length of a '40-'47 COE? I realize the answer could vary with bed type, but maybe some of you could head out to your garage with a measuring tape?
I'd love to own one some day, but I'm not sure I've got any place to keep it. My garage is decent sized, but probably not THAT big. |
Re: '40s COE size? Height is about 7 1/2 feet.
Length depends on the wheelbase. There are 3 models: 101", 134" and 158". It is 32" from the front bumper to the front axle. So overall length would be 32" + wheelbase + overhang behind rear axle. Tom |
Re: '40s COE size? Exactly what I'm looking for. I've got about 91", unless I get one of those side-mounted door openers (looks like maybe I have to). Length doesn't seem to be a problem, I've got about 250"

Re: '40s COE size? Since "about 7 1/2 feet" is pretty darn close to your 91" opening, I rechecked more carefully today. Looks like 89" for the height. With the curved top of the cab it isn't very easy to be exact.
Still a pretty tight fit. Tom |
Re: '40s COE size? Yeah, I'm not sure how well this would work. Getting a side-mount garage door opener would gain me a couple inches, but I still wouldn't be able to jack it up inside.

Re: '40s COE size? In all of the years since I got my 47 in 1974, I don't remember jacking it up. There is a heck of a lot of space under it with those 20" rims.
I suppose changing tires or doing a brake job would need it to be jacked up some. But I've had those tasks done. Tom |
