Hello, Thank you in advance. Recently purchased a 1962 Galaxie Sunliner Which has the following problem. There seem to be a type of subframe which the gas tank sits in (?). The tank straps actually hook in to this piece. I have found this area I am trying to describe has mostly rusted away. One good bump and the tank will be in the road.. Not finding People standing in line ready to fix this issue. Any suggestions? Can anyone give me the correct verbage for the parts I am trying to describe. Thank you.:confused:

Now I am not sure of how that attachment piece looks like on the Galaxy BUT I had the same problem on my 57 T Bird.

I drew a template and sent the template and the old piece along with pictures of the other attachment hanger to Casco.

They made one for me and I believe they now offer that "hook" in their parts catologue.

Its part of the trunk pan floor so it was never offered as an individual item.

Post a picture up and if its the same as a T Bird (or workable) you might want to try Casco.

I will take a couple pics of my Wagon and try to post and you can see if its close BTW its a 60 Falcon but it may be close and right now I have the tank off

Hi, I didnt take a pic. and I may have the problem solved.. The peice looks alot like the handle bars you would find on your typical stingray bike from the early 70's., but certainly broader. It goes across the bottom of the tank, up the sides. It attaches in one area to what looks like a body mount. The flaired part ( Handlebar grips) look spot welded to the back side of the rear fender on either side. This part would be a bitch to replace. Angle iron across the bottom will likely be the solution... There is more rust than I thought Buyer beware. me...

Doesn't sound like you have a production setup at all. Sure it's not a cobbled up repair just to get it down the road? Sent you a PM regarding repairs.

Hi, Maybe I should not have used the handlebar analogy. Its a stamped piece of steel that runs down the sides and across the bottom,side to side The tank straps attach front to back, attach in slots.
