An Excellent Photo of an Almeda, Texas Service Station Selling “That Good Gulf”

Almeda Texas is southwest of Houston, Texas, and back when the photo was taken of this service station, the town only contained about 100 people. The scene looks as though it contains everything that would make for a perfect Norman Rockwell painting showing small town life.

Four large visible pumps dispensing That Good Gulf can be seen and 1920s Dodge Brothers Sedan (with optional wire wheels) under the station canopy, is getting its tank filled by one attendant while another is checking a tire. To the right of the late 1920s sedan seen on the outside ramp, is a man at work dealing with tire service. Be sure to see the two enlargements on The Old Motor with more info on Gulf and Hood Tires.

Looks like a Nash or Studebaker up on the rack, and probably a T getting gased-up... neat photo!

Frank the car getting gassed up is a Dodge Brothers and you are correct the other car is a Nash. On The Old Motor you can see enlargements of both and learn about "That Good Gulf" and Hood Tires.
