Coupe sputters after running for a while

Need a Model A doctor to diagnose this new problem.

We finally have a nice day here in Ohio and I decided to take my '30 Coupe for a spin. It ran great for the first few miles but then started to sputter. It wasn't a backfire but a sudden loss in power then followed by a burst of power. This happened more and more frequently as we cut our trip short and headed for home. Any ideas as to the cause will be greatly appreciated.

I have a full tank and the sediment bowl and separate fuel filter are clean. I'm wondering if the float valve in the carburator is sticking.

start with fuel flow... check the vents in the fuel cap. then check flow at the carb. If all that is good, then check if the float level is right.

If those all check out, then we can move on to the next steps...

What is the seperate fuel filter you mentioned?
Many of the extra filters are meant for fuel pump pressure, and not for gravity feed.

As mentioned, check fuel flow. It should be a strong steam and quickly fill a quart jar.
