Farm fixes Today I was flogging a friends 29 Tudor and found some interesting farm fixes.
1).I found a large nail hanging between the cross accelerator rod and the block. The head had been trimed and the nail shortened. Clearly worked on. Why? It pulled right out and the gas pedal seemed to work fine. 2). The right rear emergerncy brake rod return spring was turned full down bending the ebrake rod. 3). the front raduis ball mount had a stack of washers rather than springs 4) The front left brake retrurn spring had a entra arm grabbing the brake rod. |
Re: Farm fixes the bent brake rod was a way to adjust the brakes when the threads run out. I've seen it before.
The stack of washers was either to replace a lost spring, or more likely to stop a worn radius ball from moving and causing shimmy. no idea on the other 2. My pickup had a stick that had been split with a hatchet wired to hold the window felt as a replacement for the missing metal channel. It also had re bar rear fender braces and welding rod welded along the fender bead. The welding rod trick is fairly common on fenders with a cracked bead. On the other hand, I worked on a scabbed together 33 Packard recently that had a Model A light switch bulb and a Model A rumble lid latch in it. |
