Cad plated lock washers Does anyone know where I can find some 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" cad plated lock washers? Most washers sold in hardware stores now are zinc plated. Many original lock washers used on Model A's had a whitish cad finish. I know, some were unfinished. I would like to purchase some to go with my white cad plated bolts I had done at a plater.

Re: Cad plated lock washers There's a surplus store just south of downtown MPLS called Ambles. They have a lot of different hardware. Take a flashlight with you and wear some thin gloves. It's kind of dark and dirty inside.

Re: Cad plated lock washers Tom,
I remember you telling me about it a two or three years ago. I went once and it is dark and dank, but there was a lot of tools and fasteners. I didn't have a flashlight like I should have brought. I didn't know it was so poorly lit. It was difficult to get to. Maybe I will stop there on my next trip to a model A clinic. Rusty |

Re: Cad plated lock washers Mac's used to be an excellent place to find older hardware, but the closest Mac's to us is 150 miles away in Detroit Lakes, and Mike said they moved into a new store and now just have the common new hardware, no more slotted screws.

Re: Cad plated lock washers If your not going to take the lock washers and just get them cad plated as well, I would recommend Eastwood cad plating paint. Looks dead on and would be good enough for how little shows on a lock washer in use.

Re: Cad plated lock washers If I used zinc plated lockwashers, would anyone even notice or care??? Folks here are only concerned if it has a grumble seat & if the horn works or if I bought it "NEW"
