For some odd reason, you still will not be able to find time, to do certain things, even after retirement.

Thanks for posting Dusty. Wish it was close to me. I am looking for a back ground like that to get a picture with my beater farm truck. As Jeff pointed out. Get out and enjoy retirement. It goes very, very, fast. I retired in Oct. 03 and it will be ten years soon. 66 here and so much to do and so little time. Good luck to you. Mark.

For real. If there's something you wanna do or see, for goodness sakes get out there NOW and do it. If you always wanted that '36 three window coupe since you were a kid, find a way to buy it don't worry about the cost I'm telling ya. Tomorrow is too late life will be over. I'm 58 and the obits are full of people my age every day.

Man I would like a three window coupe:D I don't worry about the cost, can you convince the wife:rolleyes: I did get out at 59 and that's the very reason for doing so, it made it a bit harder financially but not to much so. I told the wife I was not going to spend another summer at work...TIME IS SHORT!! I enjoy the Model A and I have been off on vacation before my last day and I have got several things done that needed done before the driving season arrives.

I also have my photography and love creating images for others to enjoy and of course the honey do list is growing to near arms length:mad:

One thing we have committed to is to see as much as the country next summer as we can. When the money budgeted has run out that's when we will come home. Won't have much of am agenda and if there is something along the way we want to see we will stop! None of this "we can't stop" because we only have a week or two.

Embarking on a new chapter

P.S. I check the obits everyday looking for me....so far so good:p

Dusty,

Congrats on the retirement!:) I started on mine 7 years ago and I haven't looked back yet. I'll start collecting my SS monies in June
of this year. Oh' boy, there giving my money back to me ...so they
can tax me some more. Sure, I've got a lot projects and things I
haven't done, yet. But, ya' know what?!? I ain't in no hurry to do
nothing! I've got the rest of my life to do it in........:p

That old service station/shop is a "Killer"! Man, can't you see a local
"A" club getting together and buying something like it for a "club" house.
I'd have a private bar in it so I'd have a place to take some hot doll to!
Yeow'za.................

Great photo. I live in Oregon, but have people in GA. Whenever I get back there I drive the back roads. Georgia is full of history and old buildings.

You have to get inside this building!!!! I wonder what might be inside?? You now have the time to track down the owner.

Thanks for posting the picture. I enjoy old buildings in any condition. :) I was thinking the same as Bob, that building would be great for a Model A garage or club house. I'm glad it's not in the Twin Cities though, because if it was the city would have it torn down immediately. They seem to have this thing about not liking old buildings and have torn down most of the history of the area.

Yes it would make a great club house, I have seen many old buildings on back road trips and have wondered what treasures they may hold. But like you said most these buildings will meet their demise at some point and that's why I photograph them in hope at there will be an image with us in the future.

Retirement.... It is the BEST!!!! I don't get a lot accomplished, but I get to think about things a lot longer! :D Not really true! I am way busy, and enjoying every minute of it! I now do what I want, instead of what some "boss" wants! :) Never been happier!

Re: For your viewing pleasure

Dusty, I assure you Monday will not be your last day at work. Like many of us ol' retirees, you will probably wonder how you ever had enough time to do all the things that need to be done. It may be difficult to adjust to the fact that it doesn't all have to be accomplished on the weekend, but remember.....when you're retired its all weekend.
Best wishes in this next stage of your life and thanks for sharing that great picture!

Ed
