need model A engine weight-no tranny
 

going to pick up a Model A engine this weekend(complete except carb), the tranny is not attached
trying to get an idea on weight- 350# ???
thanks for any input

I think that I read that from head to pan and crank pulley to flywheel 430#.....

Likon is correct...if you pull the flywheel off, it is 380#

No wonder carrying a block to my car a few years ago made my back hurt!

Best bet is to get a handcart at Lowe's or Home Depot,
like an appliance dolly, and strap it to that.


Easy to move around that way.

I had a long block with clutch and pressure plate shipped to my house.
shipping invoice shows 422. It was in a crate so subtract maybe 15-20 for the wood box

My engine was 384 pounds prior to crating, with crate shipping weight was 412 pounds. I agree with Jim. Buy a Harbor freight appliance cart and strap it to it. Much easier to deal with. Some great deals to be had when just shipping an engine especially if trucker already has a vehicle headed to the same location or city and he has extra room.
Don't take your first estimate as it is very competitive.
