Long term "A" Ownership
 

Today, February 22nd, is the day I acquired my 1930 Standard Coupe back in 1941. 78 years of ownership have passed and the 79th year starting. It has been registered and driven every year since 1941 except during my WWII service, and was my only car in the early years of ownership. Obviously it is a keeper. It has had mechanical upkeep as needed over the years. In 1992 enjoyed new paint, new upholstery. It has ZERO accessories, not even a motometer. Plain Jane car, the way I like it.

My 1929 Phaeton has only been with me since 1954, a mere 65 years.

If you car has been in your ownership a long time, lets say at least 60 years, please chime in. This may be old timers day!

My father bought mine in 1954 or 55.
I was born in 56.

Graduated from college and Dad promised me he would buy me a new car.

So I chose a 1929 CC Pickup - the one shown on my Avatar.

That was in 1977. I still have the truck.

42 years!

Having owned the same car since 1954 is outstanding, not to even mention 1941! That is quite an accomplishment in longevity. Congratulations and many more years of happy motoring!!

My dad bought the cabriolet in 1929, and I have called it mine since 1958-59.

I bought my 1928 Special Coupe Tank Date 8/22/28 from Carl Burnett in San Diego on 12/20/64.. If you are lucky enough to have a copy of the Restorer Vol.1 Issue 4 Dated Nov.Dec. 1956 a picture of it is on Page #31 Third Place Right under Red Grows 1930 Coupe.. I also have the Original car buyers (A Doctor) sale papers who bought it in Oct.1928 @ Perry Ford Co.in San Diego. In 1965 just back from "Nam" I drove it to Rhode Island.. It was used every day until 1970 when I got married.. In 1986 it got A Marc of Excellence award @ the First World Meet, @ A Masters Restoration Award in 1987 in Va.Beach..It is still with me, but now in Middleburg Florida under going some rehab at this time in my garage..

I bought my '30 Std. roadster in 1966. No accessories, but does have a rumble seat.

Bought my 1929 Standard Coupe in 1966...I was 16 and it was 37...have now owned it for 53 years.

Does this count....I got mine in 95 for a college grad present. BUT, dad got her in 62 andrestored her in 69.

I bought my 1931 Tudor from my father's boyhood friend in June of 1960 for $75.00, Earl gave me back $10.00 to "start fixing her up". My mother said it was a "Lizzie" even though it is a model A, the name stuck and continues to today. Survived my high school years painted in a Corvete Nausau blue. Did a ground up restoration in 1975 after graduation from college, She has seen the sun rise on the south Island of New Zealand to Prince George B.C to Barcelona Spain and a number of states in the US from Nevada to South Dakota. Still going strong awaiting the MATC tour of the Great Lakes next Fall. Next year if all goes well, will check out Argentina and Chile. Think she is part of the family at this point, Not sure what my kids will do with her when I'm gone.. Time will tell

verdirick, if you're going to Argentina, check laws and regulations before you go as I have been told that one is not allowed to take spare parts into Argentina.
I may be wrong, but it's worth looking into.

I bought my widebed in 1958, a high-dollar truck, paid $150 and that was quite a bit for any A back then. Accessories, just a 4-port Riley, B trans with Zephyr gears, Colombia diff, hydraulics and 15" wheels. Painted in the late 80's. It had a '30 passenger rad shell and sealed beams when I got it.

I've still got the 29 model A that I got in the spring of 1960 .
