Dang, not knowing anything about guns/ammo, those holes look huge. What caliber rounds/type gun would leave a hole that size?

Re: US Soldiers with GAZ !!!

More than likely the truck was straffed by aircraft which had 30 caliber and 50 caliber guns. Of course 30's and 50's were mounted on other machines as well as carried by hand. There are lots of photos of the Falaise gap. The Germans after d-day were finally on the run and being almost encircled had a small (gap) to go through in order to escape capture by the allies. This was similar to the hiway leading out of Kuwait when the Iraqi forces were caught there and destroyed. Eisenhower visited the Falaise gap after the engagement was over, As it happened in summer the stench of death could be smelled in the air planes flying over head. Eisenhower said " you could literally walk for hundreds of yards and not be able to NOT step on flesh.

If it interests you, google Falaise gap photos.

Not saying this photo was taken in the gap and am pretty sure it wasn't as there are no leaves on the trees.
