Need Brakes ID'ed 3 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone! I have a '28 Sport Coupe with juice brakes (I didn't install) and I need to ID them. The front driverside is hanging up quite a bit and I took the drum off to back them off, but there isn't a starwheel on them to adjust, just hinges on the bottom. What are these off of and how do I adjust them so they dont hang up? Also, should there be a rubber seal on the inside of the drum?

Re: Need Brakes ID'ed Looks like 42-48 Ford brakes. Rod

Re: Need Brakes ID'ed There are eccentrics just below the ends of the return spring. There are two nuts
on the back side of the backing plate that you turn to rotate the eccentrics to move the shoes in and out. Bob |

Yes, these are "late" flathead Ford brakes. Here are pictures of pages from an old MoTor manual with adjustment info. You won't have the factory tool, so you will have to work against your brake drum and repeat the process two or three times until you get close.
Joe Edit--the photos don't come out big enough from the Fordbarn server to be usable. I don't have time now, but if no one else has provided better info by this evening I'll upload the photos to my website where they can be viewed at higher resolution, and provide links.
