Big feet Seems In my old age, my right foot/ankle shape doesn't allow for me to smoothly operate the gas pedal of my '39 peekup. I try shifting my heal pivoting point lefter with no improvement... Should I sell the truck; change shoes; build up the pedal; fogetaboutit???

Re: Big feet fogetaboutit clem. You can lower the footrest post or eliminate if that's the issue. (bag it and put it in the glove so it stays with the truck)

Re: Big feet Clem, you should sell that junker POS. I'm a real peach of a guy and will take it off your hands without haggling. Call me, I'm in the VA club's registry. Only catch, it has to come with the rubber chicken!

Re: Big feet I put one of those "barefoot" gas pedals over the old one on my '48. It helped.

Re: Big feet You could drill out the spoon and add a plate or just get creative with something (which would ruin the spoon, but better if you are the caretaker, I have a couple 38 accelerators, I'll send you one to mod).
48s are very different, then the early accelerators. It an idea though. |
Re: Big feet please help me add photos of my 39 peekup

Re: Big feet 5 Attachment(s)
Will making one of these help? It offsets the brake or clutch pedal to the left or right, up or down. You can also add washers to increase height of pedal. I think Drake sells something like this but, it's easy to make one yourself. Opps, as I recall the brake pedal threads are pipe threads, not 1/2-20.

Re: Big feet I read with interest and amusement of your question. My 41 truck and my big feet do not work well together either. I removed the pedal stand and this helped greatly but my the toe of my boots then hit the heater--ended up moving the heater up 3/4 of an inch. But I still love my truck and we (big foot) and it are getting along pretty good now.

Re: Big feet Maybe you either need new feet or to stop wearing those clown shoes.....

Re: Big feet Easy solution get one or two of your wimmin to chauffer you.

Re: Big feet I ran into a similar problem with size 15 shoes.
I switched to some nice sandals when driving my roadster. They are a lot better and keep me cooler in the summer. |
Re: Big feet I like "19Fordy"'s option. I know I had a problem when I had the clutch and brake pedal pads mounted the long way horizontally in my '51. Changing them to the long way vertically made things much better.

Re: Big feet 3 Attachment(s)
Clem, sorry for the late post on your photos! Had some major issues come up, but all under control now. :)

Re: Big feet thanks JSeery.
I'm in the red shirt and my brother in Law from New Orleans is in the dark shirt. Nothing like fleaing in an old truck. "Uncle Raeman", the truck, took it in stride. Nobody bought nuthin!! But they added a '39 and a ''41 and a Chebby transmissions plus some other treasures. Clem |
