slant window windshield won't close all the way

Good afternoon, I'm reassembling my S/W four door after painting.
But now the windshield is hitting the sill above the tank. This sill is bowed out but the windshield is straight and it's hitting the top edge ow the sill. Bratton calls this sill the ( windshield to gas tank filler trim. page 121 in there catalog ) The only thing different from when I took the car apart to be painted is the gasket above the hinge. I bought this gasket from MAC's. I don't have the original gasket so I don't know how thick it was. I can measure the one from MAC's. Has anyone had this problem?
Thank
John

Try removing it and test fitting without the gasket, I found my gasket was way too thick, I ended up using some black silicone sealant instead.

I still have the original one I removed several years ago and replaced it with one from Brattons. The S/W take a special front upper seal, see attached photos. The thickness of the material that fits between the frame and the upper header measure .082”, so the original thickness must have been around 3/32”.

It has been mentions before that the gaskets on the market are too thick. Some use friction tape some sealer.

Did you have the glass replaced?
If so...make sure the arc matches the filler strip.
In the event it's only rubbing at the centre that means they either changed the arc when pounding in the glass OR maybe it's not seated in the groove and actually pushing the channel downwards OR the glass may have the wrong arc. (just throwing out some ideas)

If you use silicone on the upper seal (or anywhere on your car) the surrounding metal will eventually rust ... maybe not in your lifetime ... maybe in just a couple years ... but silicone sealer accelerates corrosion.
I would suggest butyl sealer.

I had same problem on a 31 S/W 4-door.I removed the gasket & used some sealer & the WS closed fine.
