226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure Hi Guys, today I noticed that my F1 with the original 226, that hasn't been rebuilt was reading 80 of oil pressure, I don't believe it should be that high ?. Should I be worried or drive it awhile to let it warm up to see if it will come back down, I just fired it up a few weeks ago, to get it ready for spring and summer driving, Didn't notice it a few weeks ago,
Any help would be great. It doesn't skip a beat while idling. Just high oil pressure Sent from my Celero5G using Tapatalk |
Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure Hey Cody, good to see you showing back up. I wish I knew what to tell you. What was the OP in the past? Maybe you have a clogged oil passage or a stuck relief valve. I don't think there's any harm driving like that, but I've been wrong before. Maybe a dose of seafoam or marvel in the crankcase is in order?

Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure put a known mechanical gauge on the engine and then tell us the OP

Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure First thing I'd do is get it fully up to temp and see what it reads. If still high I'd plumb in a mechanical gauge and see what it says. I think it's very unlikely to have 80 warmed up.

Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure I looked in the owners manual and it shows 50psi @ 2000rpm.

Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure Aren't King-Seeley gauges supposed to read at the max when there is no power to them? Turn on the ignition and they go to zero. Start the engine and they reflect the actual reading.
Are you sure you have power to the gauge? |
Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure Run it to temp, it will drop if the sender works.
