Me, myself, and I make a good team when pulling or installing engine transmission assemblies as the addition of other well-meaning helpers has a tendency to speed up the process which often leads to mistakes. It is reminiscent of having too many helpers when loading and unloading vehicles from closed trailers or the old saw, "too many cooks spoil the broth".

I do work better on my own sometimes too! just take my time and try to be safe. This was the first real test of my home grown, designed and built jib. Maybe 500 lbs?? Anyway it did a very good job and was the perfect tool, along with the 1 ton Dayton electric hoist that I rebuilt, and the HF leveler.

I had used some gas but its not a good thing to use due to the flammability issues So I switched to using Kerosene as the solvent. Maybe not the best cleaner, but these parts are not going to get totally cleaned because I do not plan to paint them. Which I have done every part and nut and bolt on projects and this is kind of a relief. So I do an initial scrape off of the protective coating of grease then soak and brush the solvent. After it has dried I go over the surface with a hand held piece of sand paper to get the loose paint off.
The gasket areas get a scotch brite disc on a air a die grinder.
I try to get in the habit of cleaning these items before I set them aside. It helps with the assembly work later if they are somewhat ready to go back on the engine.

I have been reading your thread , thanks for the work on it. your BB truck is very kool! and you will have a good time with it. hear is my Beater 36 pickup. its a old work truck that has survived.

Your truck looks like it still is ready to do some work too! Hoping mine can be ready for some trips next year this time. I am going to miss a local show this weekend, but will survive!

Hi All,
I'm new to Forums and this site, so sorry if I'm in the wrong place.
I work as a fleet manager for someone who has a 33 BB with the 8 cylinder flat head. The information I have is this is stock and was rare as it normally has a 4 cylinder. He purchased it several years back and had a half way restoration on it. It currently has fuel problems. I found debris and rust in the fuel tank, lines, pump and carb. The tank has been sent out to Rock Valley in Illinois, to be rebuilt in stainless. I've taken on the rest and have started with the fuel pump. I ordered a rebuild kit from Dennis Carpenter and a few problems have come up. The pump is the early model with NO glass bowl. Dennis Carpenter says there is only the 2 early pumps. My pump has different check valves they are not in a brass housing and the filter has 2 holes not one. I've run into a few differences between the BB and B models. Is there another kit to purchase? Could I replace this pump with the one sold on the B model? any help would be great thanks in advance.

Take your "original" fuel pump and carburetor and put them in a box. Next get a pen and a label and address it to:

Actually, if it's a '33, the four-cylinder version is the rarer of the two; it's the '32 big trucks where a V8 version is rare (very rare, if actually produced that way).


As Robert indicates, a photo would inform us if your fuel pump is indeed an original '33 or it has been replaced with a '34 and up version (a very common occurrence). they are as different as night and day and have almost no common components.

just from what I can see of your above photo, that is NOT a 33 OR a 34 pump for that mater!!!! You need to post more of them to be able to tell exactly what year it is!!!!


Again, more reason for you to post more pictures of the engine and such AS I would suspect that the engine is NOT 33 either, given the pump you have!!!!!! Keep'em coming!!!

Yes sure would be neat to have a first year V8 in my truck.

Our local tractor show is history! I made it through. Very wet conditions, mixed with periods of flash flooding, and intermittent drizzle. I went to friends place in Madision Ohio and picked up his 1924 Fordson and brought it to the show.

Ok this is a stretch in the Ford world. On the way to take Dennis' tractor home the right front hub cap came loose and fell off! If anyone has a Fordson hub cap, let me know please.
Stuff happens when you get off the couch.
Back to the show grounds to try to fill in tracks in the yard.
Called my machine shop and told him the "B" engine is coming in a couple weeks.
Then the evaluation will begin and I hopefully can begin to get parts ordered too.
Looking at another tractor too. Found one at the show for sale. A Massey Harris "Pony" model with Woods 59 inch deck.

Is that the power take off engagement for the hydraulic dump bed??

Or is it to engage a second speed transaxle??
