41 ford parts

Have complete running gear for 41 ford car. Engine is complete. Turns over no visible cracks. What is it worth. Part it out? Jim

Note: engine has been sold but I can't seem to delete this message.

You didn't say what part of the country your from, that can have some bearing on price. I've seen complete 221 engines going from $100-500. You can't be sure it has no cracks unless it come apart and someone magafluxs it. If your patient it can be parted out. Tranny on a '41 is not worth much <$100, most people want '39 trannys or use T5 replacements. Hope this helps.

$100 if you can't see it and hear it running.

Rebuild of a '40 - '48 side shift transmission is $400+, and plenty of folks are driving stock three-on-the-tree. A good used one should be worth maybe half that. First pull the bottom drain plug and check what drains out for metal chips. Stick your finger in the hole and feel around. If it passes that test, pull the side cover off and check the gears for wear and chips. If it shows signs of excessive wear or chipped teeth, the <$100 figure applies for the remaining good case and shafts.
