1935 wire wheels

How much runout if any is allowed. My rims have .125 wobble.

The less runout, the better, I've seen worse ones run.

Well I am going to paint them and see how they do. Not many good wheels left. Don't know if I could straighten them.

I have a set if interested. Where are you?
You do know you need inner support rings if you are using 40-48 drums?

I am in central illinois. I have the spacers.

Re: 1935 wire wheels

I have seen spacers too thin. The spacers should be 3/16" thick,

If there is a wheelwright in your area, he probably can true that up. I have watched one work in the Seattle area years ago.

My spacers are heavy. Can you send pictures of the wheels and how much do you want for them?

I didn't think they should be that thick. Are you talking about spacers to run disc wheels on mechanical brake drums? To add more confusion, I still don't know if chucksue is running mechanical or hydraulic brakes.

I am running 1940 hyd. I bought the spacers from speedway.

Re: 1935 wire wheels

You can measure the required spacer thickness pretty easily. Put a staight piece of metal across two of the supports on the wheel mounting surface. Measure down to the cavity the spacer sits in. Subtract the thickness of your metal piece and that is the gap that needs to be filled.
Check what the Speedway thickness is. Not the total thickness but the raised part.
