Where are the Virgins? NOS, never assembled, flathead Ford V-8. Has anyone ever seen or heard of one? If so where is it, and what is it? RAY

Re: Where are the Virgins? Never assembled engines? You mean put in cars? My friend has several engines like that.

Re: Where are the Virgins? No, I am asking about NOS parts that were never assembled to build an engine, but would become an engine if ever assembled. As in one collection of parts. RAY

Re: Where are the Virgins? My buddy had two F/H V-8 bare blocks in crates from the 70's. Sent one to Motor City Flatheads and they built it into a 276 c.i. motor. Has one left.

Re: Where are the Virgins? 1 Attachment(s)
I had this NOS 99a block until a couple of years ago when I was offered too much to say no, I still have the original packing crate it came in.

Re: Where are the Virgins? What are you looking for in the way of N.O.S. Engine parts, I have a few still in Cosmoline and ford boxes. I also have some never used replacement Distributor caps to replace the old Mallory flat caps to convert to standard tower type caps if you are interested.

Re: Where are the Virgins? I had some work done on a banjo rear end by a old Ford guy back in 2000. While he was showing me around I came across a brand new, still shiny, factory relieved, 59AB block on a stand. When I asked about it he said it was for sale. I thought about it for a while but he talked me out of it because it was going to be expensive. Now I'm still kicking myself, it probably would have been the best $500 I ever spent.

Re: Where are the Virgins? <<<<< has NOS genuine Ford rods, cranks, cams, timing covers , aluminum heads, along with many smaller parts for 221-239-V8/60

Re: Where are the Virgins? A block for $2500? Wow. I know a couple sources for blocks and not near that much. I know where to get an engine for $3500 just a few parts rebuilt.

That said, I doubt Ford ever sold an un-assembled "kit" (such as all the individual parts in boxes on a pallet sold as a single catalog P/N) to build an engine. A dealer would have either purchased parts individually as needed, or a factory assembled "crate" engine for "drop-in" replacement. |

Re: Where are the Virgins? I guess that is the reason SBC and small block 302 Fords are popular in these old dogs today.................

Re: Where are the Virgins? LOL, they've been very popular in early fords for more than 50 years!!!

Re: Where are the Virgins? Don't believe cheap and easy is the current draw of the flathead!!! :)
